Nomad 2026

Booked in here on La Gomera until 6th of May. A whale surfaced close to the boat on the way over, gave me a bit of a fright. That's the second time I've seen a whale. Saturday 18th April 2026. Took the bus to Valhermosa (seatbelt on) Went for a hike.  Very dramatic landscape.  and landmarks. and a nice bit of Civil Engineering.  Dry stone walling is everywhere here and it's done very well, although these guys have cheated with a bit of cement. I suppose that because they've been doing it since ancient times on the mountainsides with their terraces they have been set standards that have to be kept up.

Strong winds from the north expected tomorrow and not enough shelter at La Gomera so I've come back to Tenerife to shelter on the south side of the island and plan my next move. Wednesday 8th of April 2026. Constrained by strong winds, there are very few places I can get to and I need to leave Nomad somewhere for 3 weeks and fly out from North Tenerife. All of the marinas on the east coast of Tenerife have turned me down but La Gomera has just accepted my request. and I should be able to cross back over on Sunday. It's a great relief, I was beginning to consider having Nomad hoisted out and stored on land. Getting to the airport from La Gomera will involve ferries and hotels but now I have peace of mind.
